Madison, GA and Athens, GA

As we headed to Madison, we went through the town of Rutledge that had one intersection with a stop sign on top of a barrel.  We stopped for lunch there at the only place that was open and then visited a very old hardware store.  Then we drove to Madison which is suppose to be one of America’s most beautiful towns.  It’s famous for it’s antebellum architecture that wasn’t destroyed by General Sherman during the Civil War.  Yes it was pretty but how many restored homes can you see… afterwards we headed to Athens.  Everyone recommended that we see a band while we’re here because it’s such a music town but because it’s a college town and school hadn’t started yet, the town felt dead.  So we had dinner and bought some warm socks instead cuz yup it’s still cold here.
